Beyond the Hamper: Corporate Christmas Gifts People Want to Keep
Every year, businesses face the same question:
What are we going to give our staff and clients for Christmas?
The traditional hamper will always have its place. But corporate Christmas gifting has changed. Businesses are increasingly looking for gifts that feel thoughtful, useful and genuinely enjoyable to receive, rather than something chosen simply because it ticks the Christmas gift box.
And the good news?
A memorable corporate gift doesn't necessarily need a huge budget.
It just needs a little thought.
Start with the person, not the product
Before choosing anything, think about who you're buying for.
A gift for 300 staff members is going to have different requirements from a thank-you gift for your top 20 clients.
Ask yourself:
Who will receive it?
How many people are you buying for?
What would they genuinely use?
What do you want the gift to say about your business?
How much would you like to spend per person?
Once you know those things, finding the right product becomes much easier.
Choose something they'll still use in February
One of our favourite approaches to corporate gifting is choosing something useful enough to live well beyond Christmas.
Think premium drink bottles and reusable cups, coolers for summer adventures, beach towels, picnic accessories, beach games, travel pieces, quality notebooks, tech accessories or beautifully branded apparel.
A great branded gift doesn't disappear once the Christmas decorations come down.
It heads to the beach.
It sits on someone's desk.
It goes camping.
It travels in the car.
It becomes their favourite coffee cup.
And every time it's used, your brand goes along for the ride.
Your logo doesn't have to be enormous
Corporate gifting doesn't need to feel like advertising.
In fact, some of the most beautiful branded gifts are the most subtle.
Tone-on-tone embroidery/print, laser engraving, debossing and understated prints can create a premium finish while still keeping your brand present.
Sometimes the difference between something that feels like promotional merchandise and something that feels like a gift is simply how it's branded.
The goal is to create something people want to use, not something they feel obligated to use because it was free.
Create a gift, not just a product
This is where Christmas gifting can become really fun.
You don't necessarily have to choose one item from a catalogue and call it done.
Instead, start with a hero product and build around it.
A beautiful cooler could be filled with summer treats and paired with a branded drink bottle.
A premium reusable cup could be packaged with locally made chocolates or coffee.
A beach towel could become part of a summer-themed gift.
A notebook, pen and drinkware piece could be packaged together as an end-of-year thank-you.
Add beautiful packaging, a personalised Christmas card or thoughtful presentation and suddenly you're not handing someone another promotional product.
You're giving them an experience.
And that experience can be created around different budgets.
Think beyond one gift for everyone
If your Christmas list includes different groups of people, your gifts don't necessarily have to be identical.
You might choose one option for your wider team, another for managers or long-serving staff, and something more premium for key clients.
The branding and presentation can still tie everything together so it feels like one cohesive Christmas gifting campaign.
This is particularly useful for businesses with a large number of recipients but a smaller group of people they'd like to recognise with something extra special.
September is when the good options open up
Christmas might still feel a little way off, but September is a fantastic time to start thinking about corporate gifting.
Planning early gives you access to a much wider range of products, colours and branding options.
It also opens the door to custom-made and indent products that simply aren't possible when you're ordering at the last minute.
And perhaps most importantly, it gives you time to actually think about the gift instead of settling for whatever happens to still be available in December.
You don't necessarily need to place your order today.
But now is a very good time to start exploring what's possible.
Not sure what to give? That's completely fine.
You don't need to arrive at Brand'd knowing exactly what product you want.
In fact, sometimes the best brief is simply:
“We need Christmas gifts.”
Tell us who they're for, approximately how many you need, your budget and when you'd like them delivered.
From there, we can help source ideas, compare options, recommend branding methods and create something that feels right for your business and the people receiving it.
Because the best corporate Christmas gifts aren't necessarily the biggest or most expensive.
They're the ones that make someone think:
“I'll actually use this.”
